Carter grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he cultivated a love for theatre at a young age. He began his singing and acting training in high school and then continued his studies at the Louisiana State University School of Music, studying vocal performance.

After some time at LSU, Carter changed his major course of study to theatre, with a concentration in performance. It was in the LSU Department of Theatre that he discovered his love for theatrical sound design, and he graduated from LSU having worked on many productions as an actor, sound designer, and director.

Carter continued his acting training at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City, where he currently resides. He is now making great new friends and collaborators while pursuing theatre and film work in New York.
